Through Arvada Community Food Bank’s (ACFB) main distribution, households living in our service area (38th Ave to 120th Ave and Sheridan Blvd to the Foothills) may receive food six times per year. Each box distributed meets current USDA guidelines for a three-day supply of emergency food. In-between visits, they are welcome to access bread, produce and other items we have in abundance without using one of the limited visits. By focusing on the nutritional content of our food boxes, we can ensure a more food secure Arvada. In addition to our donated food distribution program, we are a site for The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP). We learned that ACFB has the largest household size of any TEFAP agency in metro Denver, and our numbers continue to grow. We strive to provide fresh produce as well as essential household items such as toiletries that cannot be purchased with food stamps. We often have diapers, formula, cereal and baby food available as well. We make every effort to accommodate any special dietary restrictions or needs of our clients (low sodium, kosher, etc) by making substitutions. Because our mission is to provide emergency food, we provide community referral resources such as Food Stamp and WIC information to assist clients in becoming food secure.
