Description

The Feeding the Future Backpack Program provides food to children at 12 area elementary schools each weekend during the school year. These schools are "Title 1" schools that have a high percentage of children on the "Free and Reduced Lunch program.

Each Friday, each eligible child  takes home a sack filled with:

  • 2 breakfast items,
  • 2 lunch items
  • 2 snacks
  • 1 fresh or canned fruit
  • 1 canned vegetable

The program is available nine Arvada and three wheat Ridge elementary schools: Allendale, Arvada K-8, Fitzmorris, Foster, Thomson, Kullerstand, Lawrence, Pennington, Stevens, Swanson.

In addition, homeless children at Parr and Fremont are participating in the program.

Requirements

To receive the weekend food pack parents must register with the participating schools.
